The Essex Sports Agency was formed by Tony Fowles in the summer of 2007. As editor of the West Ham United Academy match day programme for over ten years, and having taken his own photographs for the programme for the last three years, Tony recently took up a similar position for West Ham United Ladies FC in 2005 when he also became the clubs official photographer and press officer. Tony also supplies photographs of ladies and girls soccer to local newspapers, the Ilford, Barking and Newham Recorder Group, the Wanstead, Epping Guardian groups, the Essex Enquirer and a few others. Plus many ESA photographs have featured in publications such as Fair Game, Hammers News and the West Ham United official match day programme.
From what began as a case of taking photographs to fill publications that I edit, a demand came from West Ham United parents for hard copies of photographs. Whilst you will find many who will grab the chance of the big events and tournaments, the Essex Sports Agency are probably the only company to be found all year round in all weathers on Sunday mornings covering the Essex Girls League. From this a demand came from parents of players in opposing teams and from this Essex Sports Agency was formed.
Whilst we would be interested in offering our services in future seasons, for the moment we are not really big enough to bid for the sole rights to the larger tournaments as we do not have the facilities for on site printing. We also believe in quality and to take a photo, edit and crop and print all in a short space of time, we believe does not allow for quality particularly with action shots. Future plans include the setting up a stall at some of the smaller tournaments not dominated by the larger money making companies to sell hard copies. Also in the planning stages is a video division
Whilst we specialise in junior football we will consider any sporting event but would prefer not to get involved with swimming or any activity where there are serious Child Protection issues.
We are happy to talk to any schools with regards to sports days, prize givings or school photographic sessions.
Other willing helpers at ESA are Denise Jeffery, who has worked with children for over thirty years in her capacity as assistant head teacher. Also Matthew Martin who has a BSc in computing, Matthew has constructed this site and for any IT enquires including web construction click here for details. So many people have helped with advice and constructive criticism, plus most importantly encouragement. Amongst those who we would like to thank are John Greenacre of the Greater London Regional Women’s League, Angela Murphy, Julie Hollingsworth, Ann Chapman and Jim Maycock from West Ham United Ladies FC. Luke Berry of the Essex Schools FA and Barking Ladies Football Club and last but by no means least Dave Smith from Redbridge Ladies FC.
From a photographic point of view Tony is strictly a Canon man and his all time inspiration is none other than the legendry Stevie Bacon.
